Since 2002, internationally acclaimed South African pop artist, singer, producer, author and actor Ike Moriz has released 20 albums, spanning original melodic indie rock and pop through Latin, easy listening, lounge, blues and jazzy swing — all available on major digital platforms. His music has enjoyed extensive global airplay, reaching No. 1 chart positions in the UK, Holland, South Africa and Germany.
Alongside his music career, Ike has appeared in major international feature films including Alfie, Shanghai Knights and Love Actually, as well as South African television programs such as Showbiz Report, Top Billing and Backstage. His UK television credits include EastEnders, Family Affairs, The Bill and Strike Back – Project Dawn. Rock legend David Bowie repeatedly selected Ike’s early work as “Top Song of the Month” on his official website.
Dubbed “South Africa’s own indie pop idol” (The Citizen, Cape Argus), Ike studied music and acting in South Africa, Germany and Holland following a jet-setting childhood. A multi-lingual performer, songwriter and producer, he spent five formative years in London fronting rock bands, performing in musicals and running his own label, Mosquito Records London, before returning to South Africa in 2005. In 2006, he was voted one of the Top Five Singers in South Africa. Today, Ike is a resident entertainer at three of Cape Town’s most prestigious five-star hotels. His songs have charted on South African radio, while his music videos enjoy regular rotation on local television. He has performed at all major venues in Cape Town and Johannesburg, including Kirstenbosch, City Hall, the Waterfront Amphitheatre, FashionTV, Back2Basics, the Blues Room, Green Dolphin and The Crypt, sharing stages with leading South African artists such as the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Judith Sephuma and The Parlotones.
Ike’s much-anticipated “Millennium Hits Tour” saw him promote his first Best Of album across Africa and Europe. He followed this with his 20th studio album, Dragons, recorded during South Africa’s Covid-19 lockdown. In 2020, Mosquito Records London published his book Dangerous Rhymes. Between 2021 and 2023, Ike embarked on the sold-out Dragons Tour, releasing two new singles: Carson Parks’ classic “Something Stupid” (with Cape Town songstress Monique Hellenberg) and Billy Joel’s anti-war anthem “Leningrad”.
In 2024, Ike returned to touring in Northern Germany on his “Blitz Tour 2024”, performing alongside saxophonists Kurt Buschmann and Leandro Saint-Hill, as well as Steinway pianist Charl du Plessis. Back in South Africa, he continues to perform private concerts while overseeing his companies Hout Bay Music (music production and education) and Mosquito Records London Pty Ltd (record label). In May 2025, Ike performed with the Ike Moriz Swing Band at the annual Ball of Hope at The Westin, CTICC, followed by his sold-out “Skulls & Stars Tour 2025” across South Africa and Germany.
In June 2026, Ike embarks on his “Artcore Tour”, named after his latest single release. In the United States, his sound has been described as “Bowie without the glam meets Oasis without the self-importance, teamed with UK chart alternative without the boredom” (Indiepop spinzone).
